We do Test & Measurement

OPTIMAL CONNECTIVITY offers testing services for fiber optic, Ethernet, coaxial and power&control cable networks.

– OPTICAL TIME DOMAINE SPECTROMETRY (OTDR) –

OTDRs are devices which we are using to characterize, troubleshoot and maintain optical telecommunication networks. OTDR testing is performed by transmitting and analyzing laser light traveling through an optical fiber. Each bend, crack, splice or connector results in a specific light signature reflected back to OTDR. The OTDR acts as an optical echo detection system, providing the user with detailed information on the location and overall condition of splices, connections, defects and other features of interest.

The strength of the return pulses is measured in regards to Insertion Loss and Return Loss and integrated as a function of time, and plotted as a function of fiber length. Plots can stored in Telcordia OTDR Data Format SR-4731.

Our service allows to analyse existing fiber networks, identify bottlenecks and to identify the technical capabilities to upgrade existing networks using CWDM and DWDM technologies. In some case we found that the existing network could be upgraded to achieve 2000 times more throughput by just changing the transmission equipment.

– PASSIVE INTERMODULATION MEASUREMENT (PIM) –

Passive InterModulation (PIM), the new benchmark in antenna system health, has become one of the greatest challenges of frequency planners in today’s mobile communication systems. System planners, equipment and component vendors alike are faced with the ever-changing dynamics of higher transmit signals and base station sensitivity and the nonlinear response of two or more frequency signals causing serious interference and network signal degradation. With the uncertainty of the root cause of PIM in any given system, the need to deploy specific testing solutions in a professional, reliable instrument has become paramount in maintaining the overall antenna health for system providers.

OPTIMAL CONNECTIVITY offers PiMPro products as service and for sale. We use PiMPro family of analyzers to provides PIM testing services for 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks.

5G networks feature an increased mobile data rate of over 1000 Mbps and this higher transmission rate will expose PIM vulnerabilities in today’s networks like never before. Network operators also face the challenge of maintaining customer loyalty in an unforgiving competitive arena. As such, good network PIM performance and PIM testing are now imperative. Since 2016 telecom companies raised the maximum permitted PIM level to -100dBm. To achieve this value in a DAS system all components have to have individual PIM values of less than -155dBm to -165dBm.

– RF SPECTRUM ANALYSIS  –

A network analyzer allows determining network parameters of radio frequency networks. We provide network analysis to characterize single-port and two-port networks such as cables, connectors, antennas, amplifiers, filters etc. in a frequency range from 20 MHz up to 6 GHz. This range covers the majority of applications.

– ETHERNET MEASUREMENT  –

OPTIMAL CONNECTIVITY tests all its Cat 3, Cat 5E, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Cat7 and Cat 8 twisted-pair cabling to work flawlessly. Each cable test is documented in order to certify their copper cable assembling and installations have passed all acceptance criteria. Whether installing copper cable or troubleshooting an existing cable installation, OPTIMAL CONNECTIVITY’s certified and calibrated test equipment is used for qualification and verification of copper based cable assembly installations.

– INSULATION and CONTINUATION MEASUREMENT  –

To prove proper installation of electrical cables insulation and continuation are essential test criteria. Our devices offer a bar graph to display insulation resistance with displays the value of external AC voltage along with a flashing symbol together with an auto null function to automatically subtract the test lead resistance before displaying the real continuity resistance value.

Insulation and Continuity Tester

For safety reasons, a Live Circuit warning beeper is active when measurement high voltage is active. We are measuring 200mA continuity measuring current according to IEC 61557 and minimum 1mA current on insulation tests to IEC 61557.
